Endovenous Ablation Torrance

Varicose veins are a very common medical condition. They usually appear in the legs and feet. Varicose veins are bulging, enlarged unsightly veins that run just beneath the surface of the skin. They can cause pain and discomfort and can sometimes lead to more serious issues like open wounds and ulcers on the legs.

Treatment varies from compression stockings to endovenous ablation and/or laser treatment.

Endovenous Ablation uses radiofrequency to treat varicose veins and venous reflux. It is a minimally invasive treatment. A small catheter is placed into the vein and radiofrequency pulses to the vein cause it to constrict permanently. After it constricts, the blood will travel to another deep vein in the leg. This procedure takes about 1 hour and is done as an outpatient procedure.

Another minimally invasive procedure that can be performed is Endovenous Laser Treatment (ELVT). A needle followed by the laser catheter is inserted into the leg and coagulates the blood inside the vein as the vein collapses. Within 2-6 weeks improvement is noted, but it may take several months to clear the vein and another treatment may be necessary.

Microphlebectomy is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat large varicose veins that have been permanently deformed due to delayed treatment of the underlying cause.
