One of our highly skilled medical professionals will evaluate the area to ensure it is an ingrown hair and administer a cortisone shot near the base of the cyst covering the ingrown hair. This will help to decrease inflammation that is keeping the hair trapped below the skin within 48 hours and allow the hair to fall out with mild exfoliation.
What does the treatment feel like?
The treatment is relatively painless. You will feel a slight prick during the treatment and that will be all!
Does cortisone shot hurt?
The cyst containing the hair may be painful due to pressure in the area; however, the actual treatment causes very little discomfort.
Is Cortisone treatment safe?
Of course! Our highly skilled medical professionals use medical precision to ensure the best results possible.
Can I get treated before attending a special event or traveling?
Yes! Just remember that it can take 48 hours for the ingrown hair to resolve.
Who should not get this treatment?
If you are allergic to cortisone, you should not receive this treatment.
Are there any side effects?
There are typically no side effects; however, there may be a slight indention once the swelling has decreased. This will usually return to normal within a few weeks. In rare cases, the indention may be permanent. If you are allergic to Cortisone, the treatment area may develop hives or a rash. If this happens, we recommended seeing your physician.
How many treatments will I need?
Most clients need only one treatment.
When will I need another treatment?
You will only need another treatment if another ingrown hair appears.
